SIHF Healthcare

The Behrmann Company

High Efficiency, Tight Footprint

SIHF Healthcare’s Belleville Family/Convenient Care Center now runs on a modern, high-efficiency heating plant built to support the next chapter of care in the community. Two Lochinvar FTX850 boilers, supplied by Behrmann Company and installed by Ehret Inc. and Hock Mechanical, replaced an aging system in the middle of a major renovation — without asking a busy medical building to slow down.

Facility

Built in 1989, the SIHF Heathcare Building in Belleville, IL was due for an upgrade.

Boilers

2 Lochinvar FTXL Condensing Boilers will provide plenty of high-efficiency heat from a small plant.

Pumps

Taco pumps will keep the system flowing.

Install

We worked with Hock Mechanical and Ehret Inc. to make sure the product was installed and is running perfectly.

Two Lochinvar FTX850 boilers brought high-efficiency heat to a nearly 40-year-old medical building — fitting a tight footprint and keeping disruption to a minimum for the patients SIHF serves.

A deeper Dive

The Belleville facility is nearly 40 years old. As SIHF undertook a major renovation to modernize the building, the heating plant had to be brought up to the same standard.
The goal was clear: high-efficiency boilers. The constraint was just as clear. The mechanical space offered a tight footprint, and whatever went in had to fit the room the building already had — not the room anyone wished it had.

Behrmann supplied a complete package centered on two Lochinvar FTXL850 condensing boilers, delivering a combined 1,700 MBH of input capacity in a compact, floor-standing design.
Because condensing boilers produce acidic condensate, the package included a neutralizer kit to treat it before it reaches the building’s drain system. A Taco 1935 inline pump rounded out the system, providing circulation in a configuration that conserves valuable floor space.
Ehret Inc. and Hock Mechanical handled the installation, bringing the new plant online as part of the broader renovation.

This was not an open mechanical room with wide doors and a loading dock. The work took place in a tight space inside an active medical building, where access was limited and every trip in and out had to be planned.
Just as important, disturbance had to be kept to a minimum. Patients and staff depend on the Care Center every day, so noise, disruption, and downtime all mattered. The compact FTX platform and a streamlined equipment package helped the team work efficiently within those limits.

Lochinvar and Behrmann were selected on the strength of the product and a reputation for delivering excellent solutions at sites like this one — occupied, space-constrained healthcare facilities where there is little margin for error.
The result is a high-efficiency system that will carry SIHF into its next phase of supporting the health needs of the community.

Summation

Renovating a nearly 40-year-old medical building means balancing modern performance against old-building realities. At SIHF Healthcare’s Belleville Care Center, Behrmann, Lochinvar, Ehret Inc. and Hock Mechanical delivered a high-efficiency condensing boiler plant that fit the space, respected the building’s patients and staff, and positions the facility for years of reliable service.
