- MC Series
UBW Boilers “MC Series” are “Flex-tube” forced draft boilers noted for their small footprint and high fuel-to-output efficiency, exceeding 82% for gas and 86% for oil.
The “MC Series” boilers utilize 1-1/2” OD tubes (0.105” nom wall thickness) in a serpentine tube configuration designed to absorb thermal shock. The pressure vessel is warranted against thermal shock damage for a period of 20 years. This design accommodates up to 150°F temperature differences from the supply and return, offers virtually instantaneous hot water, and can be to full steaming capacity in less than 10 minutes.

The “MC Series” boilers also utilize a unique 5-pass tube design with upper and lower headers located on the left or right side. The serpentine bends insure an even flow of gases through the heat transfer area of the boiler as well as equal water flow. The serpentine bends also create tangent water walls on all but one side of the combustion chamber. An upper plenum plate diverts the flue gases to the burner end to facilitate flue gas recirculation.
The “MC Series” boilers are compact compared to other types of boilers; yet maintain approximately 5 square feet of heating surface per boiler horsepower. Access for maintenance is required on one side only, and units are available as a right or left hand tube configuration, which, for multiple boiler installations, requires less floor space as the boilers can be set to utilize common access space. MC series come in both water and steam.

- UF Series
The UBW Boilers “UF Series” watertube boiler is a two drum system with multiple longitudinal gas passes separated by tangent water walls resulting in long turbulent gas travel without gas stratification. The furnace is fully water-cooled on all four sides and heat absorption does not exceed 60,000 BTU per cubic foot of furnace volume. Large downcomers are located outside the heat transfer zones to ensure positive, natural circulation without relying on external circulation pumps. The boiler drums are independently supported by a structural steel frame to ensure that undue stress is not placed on the heat exchanger assembly.

The “UF Series” boilers heat exchangers consist of 0.105 wall ERW tubing (1-1/2” OD for size 1, 2 & 3 boilers; 2” OD for boilers size 4 and larger) bent in serpentine configuration to create multiple passes without the use of baffles. This design ensures fast and uniform circulation throughout the boiler with excellent heat transfer.
The boiler is encased in a stress-free sealed insulated casing. Pre-selected insulation and refractory are used to ensure low casing temperatures. The casing components are bolted together to provide easy access for maintenance. Access to the furnace is through a manway either at the front (small units) or at the rear (large units). The boiler outer jacket is 16 gauge sheet steel finished with hard enamel paint.
The tube bends, which are necessary to provide the multiple gas passes, provide flexibility against expansion and contraction of the boiler which is associated with sudden temperature and pressure changes in the pressure vessel. The pressure vessel is warranted against thermal shock damage for 20 years at temperature differentials up to 150°F. Quick response to fluctuating loads and fast start-up capability use less fuel and manpower.
The boiler, burner and controls are completely assembled and tested at our plant. The package is built, inspected and tested in accordance with ASME Code and is registered with the National Board. A certified test report is available, if required.
When access to the boiler room is not possible with a Factory-assembled boiler, the boiler components can be crated and shipped for assembly on site. A detailed assembly manual and tube installation tools are provided. Trained Factory assistance is also available. All boiler parts are ASME certified by a National Board Inspector. The simple bolt design on the castings enables a qualified contractor to complete the assembly without ASME Code certified welders.
